CNN's interim boss Amy Entelis tells staff she wants to 'remove distractions' ... trends now

CNN's new interim boss made her first comments to staffers after former CEO and chairman Chris Licht's ousting from the embattled network.

Amy Entelis and three other executives serving as CNN's acting leadership team sent a memo to employees on Thursday, assuring them they were ready for the challenge just a day after Licht's departure was announced.

VP of talent Entelis, upcoming COO David Leavy, EVP of programming Eric Sherling and EVP of editorial Virginia Moseley claimed they will work to 'remove distractions that have made your jobs harder.'

'Now it’s the time for us as the leadership of CNN to meet the moment, as you have done time and time again,' read the memo, according to Deadline.

'As we jump in to lead the organization on an interim basis, we are humbled by the task before us and are committed to making this period as smooth as possible.

'Our goal is to remove the barriers and distractions that have made your jobs harder, refocus on the unparalleled work you are producing every day, and offer open and regular lines of communication to ensure that you feel invested and engaged in our path forward.'

The executives added that they understood 'how disorienting and unsettling it can be when we become the news and these recent changes can be difficult to navigate, both personally and professionally.'

The team will lead the network while CNN's parent company Warner Bros. Discovery recruits a new CEO.

Entelis, a 72-year-old veteran journalist, joined the network in 2012, and has since overseen 45 multi-part documentary series and 60 feature-length documentary films.
