A grieving mum whose toddler was killed after being hit in a driveway by a 4WD driven by his dad has broken her silence on how the tragedy ripped the family apart.
It's been a year since Lucas Kerswell, 3, died at his family's rural property at Dakabin in Queensland's Moreton Bay region north of Brisbane.
His uncle spent 15 minutes performing CPR until emergency responders took over but could not revive the little boy.
Lucas' siblings witnessed the 'unforeseen accident' while his dad David, had been behind the wheel of the 4WD that struck him.
Kayla-Maree Marshall had been hosing the patio at the time and initially thought her son had fallen off his bike.
It wasn't until after racing to him lying in the driveway and turning him over that she realised Lucas' lips had turned blue and he was in a bad way.
