A wannabe superhero has been arrested as a murder suspect by Brazilian police after he was found allegedly trying to kill a man during a break-in while seemingly dressed as Batman. 

Rodrigo Rodrigues da Silva is accused of trying to kill a man while breaking into a property in Parnaiba, northeast Brazil, on Monday. 

He battered his victim's chest and legs with an iron bar while donning a long flowing coat and a facemask that barely covered the upper half of his face, until he woke up and began fighting back. 

The caped crook fled the scene, but was later picked up by Brazilian police, who managed to find a stash of improvised weapons and devices on him, including bladed gauntlets, a utility belt, a knife and several 'batarangs'.

When asked for his name, he reportedly told police he went by 'The Punisher of Parnaiba.'
