A witness to a shocking shark attack has recalled seeing the victim struggle to the surface - before being dragged down and never seen again.

A 55-year-old surfer was mauled to death by a Great White near Granite Beach, south of Streaky Bay, South Australia, at about 10.20am on Tuesday.
Fellow surfer Jeff Schmucker raced to the scene and said he spoke to one of the dozen people in the water who watched the horror unfold.
'It attacked him from the side. He went under once and came up again and went under again and that's the last the lad saw of him,' Mr Schmucker told 7News.
Mr Schmucker later took his jet ski out into the surf to try and find the victim but then found himself close to a four-metre shark he believed to be the killer.
