Humans remains discovered on Long Island have been identified as a 20-year-old man who was 'recently killed,' and whose death has been ruled a homicide, officials said.
The missing man was identified on Wednesday as Yoneli Abimael Ramoso Moreno of Brentwood. His remains were discovered along Sunken Meadow State Park located in Smithtown on Monday afternoon.
Parkgoers made the grim finding when they were on a trail at the eastern end of the 1,287-acre park, state police said.
'The death of Ramos Moreno is being investigated as a homicide and it's been established that his death occurred recently,' according to a press release by the New York State Police.
The case is under investigation, but at this time police have not linked Ramos Moreno with the Gilgo Beach bodies found along the South Shore, The New York Post reported.
