Moment frantic cabin crew try to put out fire on JetBlue plane after American ... trends now

Aircrew had to jump into action after a passenger's bag was set on fire whilst sitting at John F. Kennedy International New York airport on October 30.

Musical artist and former American Idol star Jimmy Levy, 25, captured the moment after he had woken up to intense heat where he immediately noticed that his bag had been set on fire. 

The video shows cabin crew members pouring water onto the heated bag to cool the situation down.

Mr Levy said: 'I thought someone tried to attack me because I'm a known political figure and musician, but after investigation, it appeared to be an overheated portable charger in my backpack.' 

The bag had previously unexpectedly imploded under a passenger seat. After clearing away the danger and following an investigation, the cause of the fire was found to be a portable charger that had overheated.
