ICE arrests illegal immigrant wanted in Senegal for TERRORISM charges - two ... trends now
Federal immigration authorities has arrested an illegal immigrant in New York City who was was wanted in Senegal for terrorism charges.
The arrest of the 29-year-old Mauritanian or Senegalese citizen on October 17 came two weeks after agents at the southern border encountered him but later released him into the U.S.
The noncitizen was apprehended for alleged 'criminal conspiracy in relation to a terrorist organization; destruction, degradation and damages in relation to a terrorist organization' among other charges, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said in a press release.
The unidentified man had been encountered on October 3, two weeks before the arrest, by border patrol agents in the area of Monument Hill near Lukeville, Arizona.
Authorities completed the processing procedure and issued a notice to appear for the individual as a noncitizen present without admission or parole.
The man was subsequently released and provided with documentation to report to Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in New York City.

It became evident that he was wanted in Senegal for alleged terrorism activities on October 10, a week after he was released, as ICE's Homeland Security Investigations agents notified ERO New York City.
Other charges against him include 'acts or preparatory acts aimed at compromising public safety or causing serious political troubles; direct provocation of an armed crowd; and holding arms without prior administrative authorization,' ICE says.
Authorities arrested the 29-year-old noncitizen without incident outside 26 Federal Plaza in New York. He now remains in custody on deportation proceedings without bond.
'Noncitizens who are engaged in or suspected of supporting terrorism are a direct threat to our country's national security and will be expeditiously removed from the United States,' ERO New York City Field Office Director Kenneth Genalo said.
