A young boy was approached by an unknown man who reportedly tried to touch him in a public toilet during a game of school cricket.

The 12-year-old had been at the parklands in South Terrace in Adelaide at about 9.30am on Saturday when he went to the public bathroom alone.

An unknown man reportedly followed him inside and tried to approach him.

The child was able to flee the toilet and raise the alarm with his father who called police.
