It is now clear that the SNP’s plans for National Treatment Centres have run into serious delays and problems with their introduction.
Many health boards, far from being ready to bring them in, are only just at the beginning of the process.
Having previously outlined their plans, Grampian now estimates that they will not open before 2027-28, Tayside won’t give a date, Lanarkshire has no details on timing and Ayrshire and Arran haven’t even delivered the full business case required to get the process started.
But the blame lies squarely with the SNP government. The non-delivery of the proposed centres is just the latest in a long series of nationalist failures on large projects.
