Eric Scott Sills murder trial: Fertility doctor is accused of strangling wife, ... trends now
Dr Eric Scott Sills, 58, called police in the early hours of November 13, 2016 claiming to have discovered his wife Susann's body at the bottom of the stairs in the family home in San Clemente.
After an extensive investigation, including an autopsy and multiple rounds of DNA testing, the department's coroner determined that Susann's death was a homicide in November 2017.
Sill was eventually arrested and taken into custody in April 2019 in connection with the murder which allegedly occurred amid tension in their marriage.
He appeared in court on Tuesday where prosecutors told jurors at the outset of the doctor's trial that Susann's injuries were not consistent with a fall down the stairs.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Walker told the Orange County Superior Court jury that the 'substantial injuries' the victim had on her face and neck didn't match up to what she would have suffered in such a fall.
Prosecutors alleged that Sills 'squeezed the life out of' his wife and then tried to cover up the killing.
Walker also told jurors how there was evidence of difficulties in their marriage before the alleged murder.
Susann reportedly posted a topless photo of herself online after losing a bet about whether Donald Trump would win the Republican nomination for the 2016 presidential race.
