A police officer was seriously injured following a hit-and-run in the Black Country this morning.

The incident happened at 10.30am after an officer tried to speak to the driver of a car in Reservoir Place, Walsall, in the West Midlands.

But the officer was hit by the car and pushed against a police vehicle as the driver sped away.

The officer suffered serious leg injuries from the incident and a second officer was also hurt, although not seriously.

The car has since been found abandoned and police are conducting 'immediate enquiries' to find the suspect.
