The Treasury is examining proposals to end the postcode lottery for a devastating bone disease affecting millions of people, mostly women, following The Mail on Sunday's campaign.
Officials have been working up plans to fund better detection of osteoporosis as part of their preparations for Wednesday's Budget.
The Mail on Sunday has called on the Chancellor to fund Fracture Liaison Services (FLS) in every NHS Trust in England and Wales.
