A critic of the Government's approach to tackling extremism could be unveiled as its new anti-Muslim hatred tsar within days.
Fiyaz Mughal, the founder of counter-extremism group Faith Matters and Tell MAMA - a national initiative supporting Islamophobia victims - is one candidate in the running.
He could be unveiled as the new tsar as early as Monday as part of a crackdown on extremism to be launched by Communities Secretary Michael Gove.
However, a final decision is yet to be made and the announcement could be delayed.
