The girlfriend of a man allegedly stabbed to death in a daylight attack at an exclusive resort has spoken out after a former private schoolboy was charged with his murder.

Accountancy student Will Swinbourne, 21, was allegedly pulled from his car and stabbed in the chest in Hope Island, on Queensland's Gold Coast, on Monday.

Paramedics tried to revive the Griffith University student, who was suffering from severe knife wounds, but he died at the scene around 2.20pm.

Police launched a ground, water and air search on Monday afternoon for two men who were believed to be known to the Mr Swinbourne.

The manhunt led to the arrest of two 23-year-old men who were tracked down to the luxury Sanctuary Cove development nearby.

On Tuesday, former Ipswich Grammar School student Haedyn Patrick Zachary Rawson, 23, of Redbank Plains, was charged with Mr Swinbourne's  murder and remanded in custody at Southport Magistrates Court.
