An inquest has opened into the death of an 11-year-old schoolboy who died after 'inhaling toxic substances' in a suspected social media challenge at a sleepover.
Tommie-lee Gracie Billington passed away on March 2 after being found unresponsive by paramedics at a friend's house in Greenset Close, Lancaster.
Lancashire Police was called to the scene by North West Ambulance Service shortly after 12pm. The boy was transferred to hospital but was later pronounced dead.
At Preston Coroners Court, the area coroner Kate Bissett said Tommie-lee's friend told his mother the boy became unconscious after 'inhaling toxic substances'.
Sherri Ann Gracie, Tommie-lee's mother, confirmed her child's identity at Lancaster Royal Infirmary - with police saying the boy's death is being treated as unexplained.

Whether Tommie-lee inhaled substances was one line of inquiry, police added, while the coroner confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.
