A road which was resurfaced for the first time in almost 30 years has been left with a 'ridiculous' unsurfaced patch after staff had to work around an apparently abandoned orange pick-up truck.

The truck reportedly hasn't moved for nearly three years.

Residents of Marina Gardens in Weymouth, Dorset were handed leaflets by council contractors two weeks ago notifying them of the planned work and asking them to move their cars.

However, when workers arrived they were confronted with a lone orange Ford pick-up truck parked on the street. This left them with no choice but to work around it.

Now the road has a huge 30ft by 10ft bare patch of unsurfaced road.

Residents say the orange truck, which according to its registration is from 1962, has not been moved for at least two years and they believe the council should have towed it away.

One resident who wishes not to be named claimed the 1960s truck has been in the same spot since June 2021. He said: 'The car may still be there next time they resurface the road in another 30 years' time'
