Police said three offenders armed with machetes committed two home invasions and an attempted carjacking at Mickleham about 6:30am. Nobody was injured in the attacks. The three youths were then pursued as they drove an allegedly stolen vehicle through Wyndham Vale, Werribee and suburbs in Melbourne's north-west. Police said they were followed by a police helicopter and reached speeds of up to 200 kph in the stolen vehicle. The pursuit, which involved up to 12 police cars, ended at the Sunbury Square Shopping Centre carpark at about 10am. 'The three occupants exited the vehicle outside a shopping centre where they were arrested by Critical Incident Response Team officers with the assistance of Air Wing,' police said. Police said a 16-year-old Wyndham Vale boy, a 15-year-old Ivanhoe girl and a 15-year-old Windsor girl were in custody. 'They've got someone on the ground it looks like...they've got someone in handcuffs,' she said. 'One's on the ground in handcuffs, they've got zip ties on him and there's another one further up sitting on the gutter.' She said around 20 police officers were at the scene and more were on their way, while police helicopters circled above to find the SUV that had been abandoned.
