Britain could STILL face a hosepipe ban this summer despite country enduring ... trends now

Britain could face a hosepipe ban this summer despite enduring the wettest winter on record because no major reservoirs have been built in the past 30 years.
Experts say that there have been no new major reservoirs built in the UK in the last three decades, meaning water is not being stored properly.
As a result, the country is made vulnerable to 'all or nothing' rain patterns, whereby we see flooding in the wetter months followed by water shortages in summer.
Professor Hannah Cloke, a hydrologist at the University of Reading, told The Guardian that the 'record-breaking' rainfall the UK has experienced in recent months will not be enough to stop summer water shortages.
She said: 'Unfortunately, these 'all or nothing' periods of rainfall we are experiencing in the UK are likely to increase as heat continues to build up in the atmosphere and oceans. We need to realise that our water infrastructure is creaking and required billions of pounds of investment.'
