Boardwalk Empire star Michael Stuhlbarg puts on a brave face during Broadway ... trends now
Actor Michael Stuhlbarg grinned at the audience at the Monday night premiere of his new Broadway play just one day after he was allegedly attacked by a homeless man with several prior offenses to his name.
The 55-year-old Boardwalk Empire star is headlining the play 'Patriots,' about the rise of Vladimir Putin, in which he plays Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky.
The show opened Monday evening after Stuhlbarg was allegedly struck while walking near Central Park on the Upper East Side by Xavier Israel, 27, a homeless man with two previous arrests for assault under his belt.
Israel allegedly struck the actor in the back of the neck with a rock, causing a scrape and bruising.
The homeless man is a parolee who was arrested for two assaults and an attempted robbery in 2022.

Stuhlbarg attempted to chase Xavier after the alleged attack on Sunday.
The chase was caught on camera by a local business in dramatic surveillance footage obtained by DailyMail.com.
The footage shows Israel, wearing what appears to be ripped pale blue jeans, a cropped T-shirt and a white shirt over his face and head, standing on a street corner.
He paces back and forth on the sidewalk close by a crosswalk, while holding a small makeshift bag in his fist.
In a second clip, Israel can be seen sprinting down the sidewalk beneath some scaffolding in the same outfit.
Seconds later, a man in an all-black look runs down the road after him - both are out of shot within seconds.
Israel was eventually apprehended by police outside the Russian Consulate at East 91st street.
The actor was offered medical attention at the scene, but he refused treatment, the NYPD said. Israel was taken into custody and charged with assault.
