Public services watchdog official is suspended after tweeting 'F*** the ... trends now
A top public services watchdog is at the centre of a bias row after she was revealed to be behind a foul-mouthed social media account responsible for a string of posts including one reading: 'F*** the Tories.'
Sinead Cook, 45, has now been suspended from her role as lead investigator for the Welsh Ombudsman's office, which is meant to provide an 'independent and impartial' complaints service for taxpayers.
However, the Conservatives have called for the 'dismantling' of the publicly-funded organisation – which pays investigation officers up to £48,000-a-year – over allegations that it is more lenient in handling complaints against Labour politicians than their opponents.
Labour has controlled the Welsh Assembly – now the Senedd – since it was set up in 1999.
Ms Cook – who has worked at the Ombudsman's office for almost ten years – used an account on X, formerly Twitter, called @SweetlittleSewandsew and posted messages using the aliases Schnade Cee and Smoogi Cookster.
In one addressing Gary Lineker's suspension from Match of The Day, Ms Cook asked why people 'are not talking about the fact the Government is trying to pass a Bill which is incompatible with the Human Rights Act and morally reprehensible', signing off: 'F*** the Tories.'
