MasterChef viewers stunned as contestant bears an uncanny resemblance to former ... trends now

MasterChef viewers did a double take during Wednesday's show as they said contestant Louise bore an uncanny resemblance to former Prime Minister Liz Truss.

The 43-year-old from Somerset was one of six taking part in the second heat of the 2024 series. 

Among her creations, Louise whipped up a honey and crème fraiche Panna cotta with lavender crumbled biscuit and blueberry compote for former finalists Jane Devonshire, Ping Coombes and Irini Tzortzoglou. 

Fans took to X to comment on her striking resemblance to the politician, 48, thanks to her blonde bob. 

Viewers wrote: 'Louise reminds me simultaneously of Alison Steadman and Liz Truss'

'Pretty sure that's Liz Truss' and 'The Liz Truss clone is very irritating'.

Speaking to the camera, Louise said: 'I liked the food I put out, I thought it was yummy. I hope they do too.'

Of her reasons to enter the show, she said previously: 'For at least 15 years my friends and family have been badgering me to apply for MasterChef. The reason I applied this year was that I had just had my five-year cancer-versary. 

'I was diagnosed when my daughter was 18 months old and our world imploded. My diagnosis and intense treatment took a long time to come to terms with and changed me.

'A positive change was to try to embrace all of life’s opportunities fully; not to say ‘no’ to scary things or to allow the myriad nasty side effects that I live with each day to stop me from having adventures. And so, I had to apply, and I am enormously glad I did.'
