Hundreds of passengers were told their flights to Las Vegas and New York were scrapped with emails being sent out in the early hours of the morning.
Many took to X, formerly Twitter, to vent their rage at the airline with one passenger Antia Hill saying the airline had ruined a ‘50th birthday.
Another passenger Ben Holmes raged that BA had cancelled his flight from Tokyo and then on returning to the UK found his flight to Las Vegas had also been cancelled.
He wrote: ’Are you still functioning as an airline at all.’British Airways said two transatlantic flights and four short haul flights from Heathrow were scrapped

Sean Nicholson also took to social media to vent his anger and said the airline was doing its best to ruin his honeymoon.
He wrote: 'Shocking customer service since 4am. No help re-booking, and forwarded to an ‘urgent’ queue to which I have heard nothing. Bloody terrible, never again.'
Others criticised the airline for their re-booking policy with one irate traveller claiming after his flight to Rome was cancelled he was then re-booked on a flight to Spain.
