Syracuse police officer and Sherriff's deputy are shot dead in Upstate New York ... trends now

A police officer and a sheriff's deputy have been killed following a shooting in upstate New York on Sunday night. 

The incident took place near Darien Drive in Salina, just outside of Syracuse, where officers had been responding to reports of a stolen vehicle. 

While investigating shots were fired with one Syracuse officer being injured as well as another officer with the Onondaga County Sheriff. 

Onondaga County Sheriff Toby Shelley said that one person at the home was injured while one was taken into custody. 

Sheriff Shelley said the two officers were in critical condition, with sources since telling Syracuse.com that the two have died.
