Ray Hadley has fought back tears as he revealed how he had to tell John Singleton of the tragic murder of the ad guru's daughter in the shopping centre massacre on Saturday.
The radio host relived the heartbreaking call about Dawn Singleton's brutal death on 3AW's Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft show on Monday.
Ms Singleton, 25, was one of the five women and one man stabbed to death in the horrific Westfield Bondi Junction attack by crazed knifeman Joel Cauchi.
But Hadley had to break the news to her father, Hadley's close mate for more than 30 years, after he got a frantic message from the worried dad on Saturday evening.
'I got a text from Singo about half past six pleading for me to ring him,' said Hadley. 'I didn’t know what it was about.
'I rang him and he said, "I think my Dawnie is one of those who has lost their life. I can’t confirm it, can you do something?",' he added.

The veteran 2GB broadcaster said he then called police contacts including NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb.
'I asked her if she had any names and she said, "Only one," and confirmed it was Dawn, a beautiful 25-year-old girl I’ve known since she was born,' Hadley said.
Hadley recalled how he then broke the gut-wrenching news to his friend.
'I had the job of ringing John back and officially confirming that his dear darling daughter had been stabbed to death by this lunatic,' he said.
