The family of a four-year-old boy who died along with his father after a devastating house fire have paid a heartbreaking tribute to the pair.

Ethan Mason was pulled from the burning building on Warrington Road, Wigan, by his brave father Barry Mason at around 1am on Sunday.

Tragically, 45-year-old Barry later died from his injuries after 'running back inside to save his little boy' from the inferno, while his son was left in a critically injured and fighting for his life.

The youngster was placed into an induced coma and underwent major surgery, but he died in hospital on Tuesday morning, police said.

His aunt and Barry's sister-in-law Jessica Wilson took to Facebook on Tuesday evening to say: 'Little Ethan decided he didn't want his daddy to be alone, and he is now back in his arms.'

Ms Wilson has since set up a GoFundMe page to help her grieving relatives, which has so far raised nearly £30,000.
