The man, who had been swimming at the popular beach, was reported missing in the afternoon. Rescuers launched a search for the man and his body was found later that evening. The 20-year-old failed to resurface from the water which forced her brothers to raise the alarm with rescuers. Emergency crews including water police spent three days searching for the woman before they managed to recover her body. Altona Beach is the most popular beach in Melbourne's western suburbs, known for its calm, clear waters. Locals and tourists visit to swim, fish, snorkel and kite surf.
