This is the moment a female e-scooter rider crashes into a 67-year-old grandmother before riding off leaving her badly injured.

CCTV footage captures the woman, believed to be in her 30s, knocking Shirley Smith to the ground along Windmill Avenue in Kettering, Northamptonshire, on April 9.

The pensioner was left with severe bruising all over her body and says she is still seeking medical treatment for back pain since being flattened on April 9.

Now, Northamptonshire Police have said they are investigating the collision but nobody has yet been arrested.

Mrs Smith had been walking off her driveway towards a friend's car when she was ploughed into the woman riding a Voi rental e-scooter.

CCTV shows the grandmother-of-two being sent sprawling to the floor before getting up and remonstrating with the rider.

According to Mrs Smith, the woman then blamed her for the accident and demanded to know why she 'didn't look where she was going' before speeding away.

What is the law on riding an e-scooter on the pavement?

According  to UK law it is illegal to use an e-scooter on the pavement.

You may only use an e-scooter on the road (except motorways) and in cycle lanes.

You also must have a category Q entitlement on your driving licence to use an e-scooter

The maximum speed for the vehicle is 15.5mph.

Mrs Smith and her husband Mike are now calling for harsher punishments for e-scooter riders breaking the law.

She said: 'I was lucky the car was there otherwise I could have rolled onto the road.

'I sort of saw a flash and then it was too late. I was walking to the car, but I didn't turn right or left when I got to the pavement.

'She turned around and asked why I wasn't looking where I was going. She never asked me once if I was ok, never offered to help me up. Didn't ask if I was fine. 

'She just blamed me. She was very aggressive. I
