One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has slammed the Labor government over the housing crisis and record high immigration numbers.

Senator Hanson said this week it's clear Australia 'can't keep up with the construction' needed to solve the housing crises. 

'Aussies are being forced into homelessness as the rising population continues to drive up the cost of homes and rent,' she said.

'Our Aussie way of life is being destroyed.' 

According to official figures, long-term overseas arrivals are now outpacing the construction of new homes by almost four to one.

'In January, we had 125,000 people arrive in the country, so Labor has done the damage; we can't cope with it,' Senator Hanson told Sky News.

'The Albanese government continues to say they will cut immigration but every month new immigration records are broken.'

She claimed the government wouldn't halve immigration as they claimed and that 'they're only going to ease up as we get closer to the election to look like they're doing something about this'.

The Albanese government pledged to build 1 million new homes within five years under a plan announced by Treasurer Jim Chalmers, but data shows this is on track to fail. 

The Housing Industry Association has warned Dr Chalmers that 185,000 homes a year will be built in 2024 and 2025—far short of the 200,000-a-year target —as building costs and high-interest rates bite.

Labor also promised to halve immigration numbers from July, which are contributing to the housing shortage and sky-high rents.
