Exmouth shark attack: Man rushed to hospital after he was bitten by shark ... trends now

A man has taken himself to hospital after he was attacked by a shark at a remote surfing location.

He was bitten at Bombie Surfing Spot near Exmouth in Western Australia's Gascoyne region at about 12.30pm on Saturday.

Paramedics were not called to the scene and police weren't alerted until the man presented himself at the local hospital.

He's understood to be in a stable condition. His injuries are currently unknown.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development launched an investigation after the incident was reported to authorities.
