A primary school has been forced to draft in a guard dog amid of a spate of anti-social behaviour.
Cottingley Primary Academy in Leeds, West Yorkshire, said that the German Shepherd and a security guard were being enlisted 'as a precaution following recent incidents in the community'.
It follows a spate of incidents including windows on the school's minibus being smashed, parents said.
However, some parents have raised concerns around the use of the working dog, often recruited for police work and military service, for fear of children's safety.
A message sent to parents last Thursday read: 'As of yesterday we now have an additional layer of security in place with a security guard and dog.

'This is in place due to the recent increase and severity of anti-social behaviour on the estate.
'I would like to reassure you that both the guard and the dog are fully trained and checked and are safe to be on the school site. Thank you.'
Speaking at the school gates today, one mother said: 'They've had the minibus smashed up twice, the headteacher does get some threats.
'She does get some threats off some of the old students who used to come here who are in high school now.
'She is just trying to look out for the students and staff members who
