This is the terrifying moment a waiter stabbed dead a councilman at a Brazil restaurant, who alleged that his daughter was targeted in a kidnapping scheme.

Surveillance footage of the gruesome murder showed Camocim councilman César Veras, 51, sitting at table for lunch before he and two other people were attacked by Antônio Charlan on Sunday.

Veras was rushed to Deputado Murilo Aguiar Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Restaurant owner Euclides Neto, 56, and Fabio de Castro, a customer, were both rushed to Santa Casa de Sobral and treated for their stab wounds. They remained hospitalized as of Monday afternoon.

'They wanted to kidnap my daughter to sell abroad,' Charlan told reporters from his jail cell Monday, according to Gazeta Brasil news outlet. 'There are a lot of people involved, it's very strong, it's very big, it's very big.'
