A celebrity psychic has been left with a £166,000 bill after being sued by his own lawyers over a series of accidents he did not foresee.

Maurice Amdur, who once had his own TV show and appeared on ITV's This Morning, failed to predict a string of bad luck between 2014 and 2019 when he suffered mutiple accidents including a road crash in January 2015.

The 59-year-old enlisted solicitors to act for him, but eventually parted company with them and went to court seeking compensation over the 2015 accident, representing himself.

But at the end of a trial in April 2021, Judge Wendy Backhouse dismissed his six-figure claim after deciding he had been 'fundamentally dishonest' when insisting that he couldn't work as a psychic for two years because of his injuries.

Now on top of the £100,000 bill for that trial, he has been ordered to hand over a further £166,000 after being sued by his former solicitors, Taylor Rose TTKW, for not paying them for the work they did in the run-up to the original court hearing.

Mr Amdur had refused to pay Taylor Rose, claiming that he wasn't given proper advice about his litigation and that he was overcharged.

But last week Judge Mark Dight at Central London County Court granted Taylor Rose 'summary judgment' against Mr Amdur, saying his proposed defence was unarguable and ordered him to pay £151,000 to cover the unpaid bill, plus £15,000 in court costs.

Mr Amdur claimed he discovered his unusual spiritual gift aged just four, going on to predict that Daniel Craig would become the next James Bond and 'reading for royalty, heads of state and movie stars'.

He established a solid TV and radio profile in both England and the US, with his own Sky TV show and an appearance on ITV's This Morning during which he foretold the futures of the show's then presenters, Philip Schofield and Fern Britton.

The court heard that Mr Amdur had suffered a series of unfortunate accidents, beginning in July 2014 when he suffered whiplash injuries when another motorist did a surprise u-turn in front of his car.

Mr Amdur claimed the worst damage he had suffered stemmed from another accident six months later in January 2015 when his brand new £80,000 Jaguar XKRS convertible - one of only 14 in the world - was rear shunted while stationary at London's Marble Arch roundabout.

The crash damaged his neck, back and shoulder, and disrupted his psychic work for two years after the crash, M Amdur claimed.

A third accident came in March 2019 when Mr Amdur said he was toppled to the ground in Marks and Spencers by a worker pushing 'a tall cage filled with tinned goods'.
