A 'lovely' teenager who had taken 'monkey dust' died when no ambulance was sent to help him for nearly 14 hours - despite two desperate 999 calls. 

Bradley Holder, 19, began acting erratically after taking dangerous drug MDPHP at a house in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, when the alarm was raised, a coroner heard.

Stoke has frequently been reported as suffering an 'epidemic' of drug users abusing 'monkey dust', with the Government keen to see it upgraded to a Class A substance. 

A Government source told Sky News last year that the drug was 'devastating communities' and 'the classification needs to meet the severity of the drug'.

An inquest into his death was told that he had started to 'throw his arms around and was shouting and gurning' after taking the Class B substance, the inquest heard.

According to witness statements, Bradley, from nearby Blurton, was 'rolling around on the floor in shards of glass'. 

His breathing was also 'off and on', and he was having seizures, but despite his friends attempts, no help was forthcoming.

The inquest was told how a first 999 call was made to West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) at 7.26pm on December 18 2022, which was changed from Category One to a Category Two, meaning an ambulance should have been with the former Haywood Academy student by 7.46pm to 8.06pm.

But when paramedics failed to arrive, a second call was made at 11.13pm. 

A friend told the operator 'there will be a death if an ambulance isn't sent', but still no emergency help came to his aid.
