Wayne Rooney and Coleen Rooney could face getting no sleep after their wealthy farmer neighbours won planning permission to expand their farm.

The Brighouses lodged plans for a shed on the boundary with Rooney's £20million Cheshire mansion for agricultural machinery and straw for the family's sheep farming business.

Under the approved plans, the 30 by 24 metre shed will store equipment including a large bale trailer, grass roller, four furrow ploughs and a small livestock trailer.

They previously lodged plans for the construction of a neighbouring shed to hold hundreds of genetically modified Australian sheep. It included a 'dark-room laboratory' so the Brighouses can genetically modify their flock.

In planning documents, the Brighouses say that sheep breeding on the farm has expanded exponentially since 2020, with the flock currently standing at 400 breeding ewes, 40 rams and 400 lambs.

Ollerton with Marthall Parish Council complained the farmers were intending to turn the development into residential housing. The project was later approved by Cheshire East Council in April 2022.

Several months later, the parish council hit out at Rooney and wife Coleen in a further planning application from the Brighouses accusing them of building a 'footballers' housing estate'.

The dig came from a council YouTube video, as part of their
