A resurfaced supermarket ad from just a few years ago is being made fun of by Australians battling the nation's current cost-of-living crisis.
The Coles ad from 2017, which featured celebrity chef Curtis Stone as he explained how to 'feed your family for $10', was shared to the popular Facebook group Australian Memes this week with the caption: 'Been bloody quiet this fella'.
Stone holds up an actual $10 note in the ad - also a rare sight these days - with commenters pointing out that in 2024, the note would only cover one bag of Coles shredded cheese.

The ad campaign featuring Stone, who is from Melbourne but relocated to California 17 years ago, was run by the supermarket in 2010 and again in 2017 - an indication that between those years prices at the checkout didn't markedly increase.
But inflation has risen sharply since 2020, spurred on by a combination of factors.
Those factors include the Covid pandemic, conflicts in Europe and the Middle East which have impacted supply chains, and less predictable weather patterns
