A former Colombian beauty queen who was reported missing in Mexico almost 10 months ago has been confirmed dead.
Ania Acosta, 43, was laid to rest Wednesday, Colombia's embassy in Mexico revealed in a social media post.
'It is with pain that we inform you that Ania Margoth Acosta was buried today,' the embassy said on X.
'A Colombian victim of trafficking and a femicide, but also of abandonment by the State. Today we failed a family, to whom we apologize, and we ask the judicial authorities for a prompt investigation.'
Former Colombian beauty queen Ania Acosta was buried on Wednesday. The 42-year-old had been missing in Mexico since June 21, 2023 after she was reportedly kidnapped. Her decomposed remains were located on February 20 in the western state of Michoacán
