Two men wielding chainsaw and gun in violent carjacking

Police are hunting two suspects who wielded a chainsaw and a gun in a violent carjacking before fleeing in a black BMW sedan.

Three men had been seated inside the BMW at around 6.50pm on Tuesday in Reservoir, Melbourne, when a Kia sedan pulled up behind them.

Two men got out of the Kia and approached the men inside the BMW, making threats.

One of the men produced a chainsaw, which was not operating at the time, but caused a small cut to the 28-year-old Dallas man seated inside the BMW, Victoria Police said.

The perpetrators continued to demands for cash before the trio in the BMW ran into a nearby store.

The second suspect approached the three victims inside the store and pulled out a gun before one of the men handed over cash, a mobile phone along with the keys to the BMW sedan.

The armed robbers then fled in the BMW X5 – which had a registration 1DL 211 – on Carson Street.
