New Zealand netball player Tania Dalton has passed away aged 45 from a brain aneurysm, her family have announced.

Dalton, who played as a Silver Fern for 11 years before retiring in 2007, died on Wednesday morning at Auckland City Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.

The mother-of-three collapsed six days ago while playing touch rugby and was admitted to hospital in critical condition and placed on life support.
