Quebec’s independent investigations unit (BEI) has been called to examine the events that led to a car winding up in the front window of a Kahnawake bar complex early Thursday.

The Kahnawake Peacekeepers had cordoned off the front of the H2O Saloon complex on Highway 132 as Sûreté du Québec crime scene technicians examined the white, late model Kia that had crashed into the Wine Barrel wine bar on the building’s ground floor. There was no license plate on the car.

Details on how the car drove into the building or whether the crash involved death or injuries remained unclear Wednesday morning. The BEI is expected to issue a statement on the investigation later this morning.
