One man is dead following a street fight early Sunday morning in the St-Léonard borough of Montreal.

The 29-year-old man was found sprawled on the street with a gunshot wound when police arrived at around 1:15 a.m. First responders could do nothing for the victim, police said.

The fight occurred outside a reception hall near the corner of Provencher Blvd. and Denis Papin S.

Police say they received 911 calls from several witnesses about hearing multiple gun shots.

Police found the victim but the suspect had fled.

The fight seems to have started inside the Le Madison reception hall before spilling onto the street.

The Montreal police major crime unit is investigating. The intersection on Provencher Boulevard between Roquebrune and Enrico-Fermi Sts. is closed. The canine crew was also called in.

This is Montreal’s 13th homicide of 2017.
