Highway 40 eastbound past Iberville is closed after a transport truck and two small cars were involved in a crash Saturday night.

One westbound lane on Highway 40 is also closed.

Police said it appears a tractor trailer with no cargo driving down a centre lane blew a tire near the Iberville exit.

The two cars following swerved to avoid the truck but they both rolled over, crashing into a guard rail and a lamp post.

Both drivers, a man and a woman, were injured but police do not fear for their lives.

Police asked for blood samples from the male driver to test for alcohol content.

Hydro-Québec is investigating the lamp post for damage.
