Malcolm Turnbull is calling an emergency meeting of the Liberal Party to decide whether a postal vote should be held on gay marriage.
It comes as the Prime Minister faces a revolt from rogue Liberal MPs, who are threatening to cross the floor and support a free vote on redefining marriage.
Liberal MPs have been called to Canberra for a special session on Monday afternoon, as moderate members push to get rid of the plebiscite policy and allow a conscience vote, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Mr Turnbull is seeking to resolve the issue, as conservative members of his party have threatened to bring down his leadership if he breaks an election promise to hold a plebiscite on same-sex marriage.
