As teenagers across the country pick up their A-level results, students are flocking to Twitter to joke about their grades.

While dozens of people are celebrating getting into their chosen courses, others are being light-hearted about their failures.

Shauna, a student from Wrexham, posted about the offer of free food popular chicken restaurant Nando's is offering to students. 

The eatery is offering a 1/4 Chicken or vegetarian option to people who bring in their results and student IDs, if they spend a minimum of £7 first.

She wrote: 'Me walking into Nando's tomorrow to show them my 3 U's and get my free chicken.'

Youss wrote: 'When you fail your A-levels but you have an unconditional', followed by a gif Ebony on America's Next Top Model.'

Ellie added: 'Me in the club tomorrow after realising i've failed my a levels x', along with a gif of a man dancing enthusiastically.

Meanwhile, celebrities are offering messages of support to inspire the students. 

The Grand Tour presenter Jeremy Clarkson, who writes messages of support to students every year, kicked off the flurry of tweets by sharing details of his opulent breakfast. 

The 57-year-old, who is currently enjoying a luxurious holiday in the Balearic island of Majorca, tweeted: 'If you didn't get the right A level results, don't worry. I got a C and 2 Us, and my chef is preparing truffles for breakfast.'
