More than $500,000 was raised at the 12th edition of the Dragon Boat Race & Festival in Lachine, Sept. 9.
The money goes to the Cedars Cancer Foundation CanSupport program, which offers practical and psychological assistance to cancer patients at the McGill University Health Centre.
Around 1,000 participants and spectators gathered at Parc Père-Marquette for the Saturday event, which was organized by the FL Fuller Landau firm.
The event began modestly in 2006 with six boats participating and $12,000 raised. It now attracts more than 30 boats and has raised more than $5.5 million for the cause.
