Rosehill races sees punters drink and dance into the night

It was one of the warmest days in Sydney's racing history, but while the horses scorched up the turf - off the track the temperature may have been even hotter.

The sweltering spring heat did little to deter punters from turning out to Sydney's Rosehill racecourse on Saturday, as thousands of men, women and children flooded through the gates.

Wearing a variety of fancy frocks, suits and anything else under the sun the racegoers dressed to impress for the major day of racing, headlined by the $1 million De Bortoli Golden Rose.

But with the mercury continuously rising and the drinks flowing at an increasing rate, as the afternoon wore on the crowd at Royal Randwick began to let loose - with some even turning the racetrack into a makeshift dance club.

While the sweltering heat didn't keep happy punters away, it did forced a few savvy men and women in the crowd to alter their outfits.

Two young women were spotted carrying dainty blue and bamboo parasols on the day to protect themselves from the sun.

They were also wearing dainty head and neck scarves, oversized sunglasses and matching off-the shoulder tangerine frocks – which reflected the summer vibe.
