Police choppers circle Melbourne CBD with suspicious man

A thief was caught escaping onto the roof of one of Melbourne's busy malls The man, described as Asian, allegedly tried to rob store on Elizabeth Street  Helicopters and a number of officers circled nearby roof tops in hunt for man Victoria Police said the man could be linked to earlier robberies on Wednesday

A thief has been spied escaping to the roof of a busy Melbourne shopping mall during the lunch hour rush.

Police helicopters were circling the CBD in attempts to find the man who escaped to a roof cavity along with a number of police officers on the ground.

The man, believed to be dressed in black, allegedly tried to rob an Elizabeth Street retail store and was later seen on the roof of a business after 1pm Wednesday.
