A volunteer Santa Clause was arrested Monday morning after police discovered a crack pipe inside his vehicle.

New Jersey Police say that Charles Smith, 64, was taken into custody around 2am following a routine traffic stop along Route 46 in South Hackensack.

An officer spotted the pipe sitting next to Smith's Santa outfit, according to NBC 4 News.

Smith, a retiree from Pompton Lakes, was also in possession of empty bags of crack and heroin. 

Police discovered other unspecified drug paraphernalia and hypodermic needles during a subsequent search of Smith's vehicle.
