Karen Danczuk nursed I'm a Celeb Jenny McApline's mother

Selfie-queen Karen Danczuk has revealed she was carer for I'm a Celebrity star Jennie McAlpine's sick mother.

Coronation Street actress Jennie, 33, broke down in the jungle as she told her camp mates of the death last March of dad Tom, who raised her.

But Karen says Jennie may also be expressing her sorrow for her late mother Linda Garner, who had a severe degenerative illness and died suddenly on Christmas Day in 2004 after choking on a piece of turkey.

Karen, 34, was Linda's carer in her twenties before she married former Labour MP Simon Danczuk.

Karen was working at a dentist's practice in the morning and Asda in the afternoon when she was caring for Linda, who had progressive supra nuclear palsy.

She lived in a council flat in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, in the same block as Jennie's family. After she finished work at Asda at 10pm, she would drop in on Linda.

She said: 'I don't think Jennie's necessarily crying because her mum passed away on Christmas Day.

'It may also be regret that she didn't see her often when she was deteriorating.'

Jennie's mother and father separated when she was a young girl and the actress chose to live with her father.

She remained close to her mother who went on to marry Jennie's stepfather, Robin Parker.

Robin explained that there was 'no bad blood' between them all and that Jennie would still go round to their flat.

'They still did things together. They'd do the normal mother and daughter things – shopping and things like that,' he said.

Jennie did not attend Robin and Linda's , but she and her father were there at Linda's funeral, according to Robin.

He told the Mirror: 'Jennie didn't see her mum much during the years she was degenerating. It was an awful illness, one of the worst things I've ever seen. You stop being able to open your eyes properly, she had to have Botox injections.

'Jennie knew all about it and it was difficult for her – no child would want to see their mother go through that. She kept her distance, not for any nasty reason, it was just one of
