Bernie Sanders braves cold for de Blasio's swearing in

It may have been the auspicious swearing in for New York Mayor Bill de Blasio's second term, but Senator Bernie Sanders knows that when temperatures plummet, only a parka will do.

The former Democratic presidential candidate donned a $690 Burton 2L LZ Down Jacket as he administered the oath of office to de Blasio in a freezing outdoor ceremony in Manhattan on Monday.

'By Vermont standards this is a warm and pleasant afternoon,' Sanders, senator of Vermont, joked the crowd at City Hall Park.

Sanders, known for his no nonsense approach and aesthetic, also wore the parka to Donald 's presidential inauguration last January - which stood out in a sea of Brooks Brothers and Ralph Lauren.

On Monday, New Year's Day, the coat made another appearance for de Blasio's swearing in ceremony outside City Hall in New York.
