FanDuel is offering Bitcoins as prizes in Wild-Card games

A popular fantasy sports site is offering Bitcoins as prizes rather than cash payouts in the first week of the NFL playoffs.

FanDuel announced on Tuesday that it will offer one Bitcoin to the winner of its free NFL Wild-Card weekend tournament.

The site will offer two Bitcoins to the winner of its $3 tournament on the same weekend.

Users can only enter one lineup for each tournament, so each person entering only has one chance of winning.

'When your team makes the playoffs, the sky's the limit. And from what we've read online, Bitcoin investors know exactly how that feels,' FanDuel said of the tournament.

It added: 'So, for Week 1 of the playoffs, we're giving you two chances to hop on the ultimate bandwagon and play to win some bitcoins of your own.'

One Bitcoin is currently worth $14,720, but the value of the cryptocurrency fluctuates on a daily basis.

The virtual currency has been highly volatile in recent weeks, hitting a record high before sliding sharply last week.
